World Literature B
(WorldB)
This course requires an enrolment key

We will be surveying the literature that remains to us from several ancient empires and cultures, all while concentrating on the four major genres of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama). That’s a LOT of material to cover; hence this is a survey course in which you’ll be introduced to the most noteworthy and important examples. We’ll learn about reading and writing and think about the issues and concerns reflected in the literature we study and, hopefully, reach some conclusions about our responses to those issues and concerns as we connect the ancient world with our own modern one.
World Literature B aims to engage students in a critical study of the development of literature from the ancient world empires to help students develop powerful literacy and language skills in alignment with national standards and the Maine Learning Results, to challenge students intellectually and to help them grow creatively as citizens, writers and individuals.
